Kitchen Remodels in Southeast Idaho & Western Wyoming

A kitchen remodel is one of the highest-impact projects in your home — and one of the most complicated to manage. We handle the cabinetry, countertops, and installation under one roof, so you're not coordinating three separate contractors or waiting for a backordered box-store cabinet run.

What Makes a Kitchen Remodel Work

Most kitchen remodels fail because of coordination problems — not design problems. The cabinet order comes in wrong, the countertop template gets delayed waiting on cabinets to be installed, the plumber schedules around the cabinet installer who ran late. Each contractor blames the last one.

We built our process around eliminating that friction. When you hire Oaken Cupboard Co., we build your custom cabinets in our Idaho Falls shop, handle the installation, and coordinate the countertop template and fabrication through partners we've worked with for years. You deal with one company through the whole project.

We're cabinetmakers first — not general contractors who subcontract everything. Your kitchen cabinets are built from scratch in our 8,000 sq ft shop, the same as they would have been in 2003 when we started. We've just gotten much better at them.

Kitchen Styles We Build

We don't design from a catalog. These are the styles we build most often — but we'll work in any direction you bring us, including matching existing cabinetry elsewhere in your home.

Shaker & Transitional

The most-requested kitchen style in the region for good reason: recessed panel doors read as clean and modern, but they're not so minimal that they feel cold. Works in painted white, soft gray, or warm stained wood. We can mix upper and lower colors for a two-tone effect.

Farmhouse & Rustic

Beadboard panel inserts, open shelving sections, knotty alder or hickory, apron-front sink bases. Popular in the region's older homes and new construction alike. We build the farmhouse sink base as part of the cabinet run so the reveal is perfectly integrated.

Modern & Contemporary

Frameless (European-style) cabinet boxes, flat slab doors, integrated pulls or touch-latch hardware. White oak, walnut veneer, and high-gloss painted finishes. If you want a kitchen that looks like it's from a design magazine, this is the direction.

Traditional & Classic

Full-overlay raised panel doors, detailed crown molding, glazed or distressed finishes in cherry, maple, or oak. These kitchens have architectural presence — they look like part of the house, not furniture that was placed in a room.

Scope of a Typical Kitchen Remodel

Every kitchen remodel we do starts with an honest conversation about what you actually need. Some homeowners want a full gut-and-rebuild. Others need new cabinet doors and drawer fronts on existing boxes that are still structurally sound — a "refacing plus" that costs a fraction of a full remodel. We'll tell you which makes sense for your kitchen.

  • Full remodels All-new custom cabinet boxes, doors, drawers, hardware, countertops, and installation. We demo existing cabinetry and start from rough walls when needed.
  • Cabinet replacements New custom cabinets installed in an existing layout. Best when the kitchen footprint is working but the cabinetry is outdated or worn out.
  • Cabinet additions Adding an island, pantry cabinet, or extending a run into an unused wall. We match existing cabinet profiles and finishes exactly so it looks like it was always there.
  • Door and drawer front replacement When your cabinet boxes are solid but the doors are dated, we can build new doors and drawer fronts in any style, refinish or repaint the boxes, and add new hardware. Dramatic transformation at a fraction of full remodel cost.

In-Home Consultation

We measure your kitchen, photograph the space, and have a detailed conversation about what's working, what isn't, what you'd change, and what your budget looks like. No charge, no pressure.

2

Design & Proposal

We develop a cabinet layout, door style recommendation, and countertop suggestion, then send a written proposal with itemized pricing. You revise until it's exactly right before signing.

3

Cabinet Build

Your cabinets are built to spec in our Idaho Falls shop. Typical build time is 4–7 weeks. We keep you updated on progress and give you a firm installation date before we start.

4

Kitchen Remodel Questions

How long does a kitchen remodel take from start to finish?

A full kitchen remodel typically runs 8–14 weeks from signed proposal to completed installation. Cabinet build time is 4–7 weeks. Then installation takes 3–7 days depending on kitchen size, followed by countertop template, fabrication (usually 1–2 weeks), and countertop installation. We give you a complete timeline in writing before any work begins.

What does a kitchen remodel cost?

Kitchen remodel costs vary widely based on size, materials, and scope. A mid-range kitchen remodel with custom cabinets, painted maple, shaker doors, and quartz countertops typically runs $18,000–$35,000 for an average-sized kitchen. Smaller kitchens or more modest materials can come in below that. Higher-end wood species, complex layouts, or large kitchens go higher. We provide a detailed itemized quote so you know exactly what you're getting before committing.

Can you match existing cabinets in an adjacent room?

Yes. This comes up often when homeowners want the kitchen and an adjacent dining room hutch or mudroom to match. We can reverse-engineer an existing door profile, match stain colors to within a close tolerance, and replicate hardware that may be discontinued. Bring us a door sample or good photos and we'll assess what's possible.

Do you handle the countertop installation too?

We coordinate the full countertop process — we don't fabricate stone in-house, but we work with trusted local stone fabricators who we've partnered with for years. After cabinet installation, we schedule the countertop template visit and the fabricator turns it around quickly because we have a working relationship. You work with us on the countertop selection; we manage the back-and-forth with the fabricator.
