Why a Custom Vanity Makes a Difference

Stock vanities come in fixed widths — 24", 30", 36", 48". Your bathroom almost certainly isn't one of those. That gap beside the vanity, the drawer that won't clear the door swing, the medicine cabinet that's two inches too wide — these are the small irritations that add up in a space you use every single day.

A custom-built vanity from Oaken Cupboard fills the space correctly. Drawers land where you need them. The countertop integrates cleanly. Cabinet depth accounts for plumbing access. When everything fits as designed, the whole bathroom feels more intentional — because it is.

We've been building bathroom vanities for homes in southeast Idaho and western Wyoming since 2003. Rustic mountain cabins in Island Park, modern farmhouses in Rexburg, historic homes in Pocatello — we've built vanities for all of them.

Vanity Styles We Build

We don't stock a catalog — we build what you want. These are the most common styles our customers ask for, but we can work in any direction you bring us.

Shaker & Farmhouse

Recessed-panel doors, clean proportions, and versatile hardware. The most requested style in the region — works in both traditional and transitional bathrooms. Painted or natural wood.

Modern & Flat-Front

Frameless construction, slab doors, and minimal hardware. White oak, walnut, and painted finishes are popular. Floating configurations add visual lightness to smaller bathrooms.

Rustic & Mountain

Knotty alder, hickory, distressed finishes, and hand-rubbed stains. Built for mountain cabins and vacation homes where the character of the wood should show through.

Traditional & Raised Panel

Raised-center panels, detailed door profiles, and rich stained finishes in cherry, oak, or maple. Pairs well with oil-rubbed bronze hardware and decorative feet.

Materials & Construction

Bathrooms are hard on cabinetry. Steam, splashing water, cleaning chemicals, and daily use take a toll on cheap materials over time. We build with that in mind from the start.

  • Solid wood face frames and door fronts No MDF or particleboard in structural components. Face frames are mortised or pocket-screwed solid wood — alder, maple, oak, cherry, or hickory depending on your style.
  • Plywood cabinet boxes 3/4" furniture-grade plywood for boxes and shelves. Holds screws far better than particleboard and won't swell or delaminate from moisture exposure.
  • Moisture-resistant finish coatings All vanities are sealed inside and out with a catalyzed lacquer or conversion varnish that resists humidity, cleaning products, and daily splashing.
  • Blum soft-close hardware European-style hinges and undermount drawer slides with soft-close dampers. Rated for 100,000+ open/close cycles and backed by a lifetime warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a custom bathroom vanity cost?

Custom vanity pricing depends on size, wood species, door style, and countertop selection. A single-sink vanity in painted maple typically runs $1,200–$2,500 installed. Double vanities with integrated countertops generally range from $2,500–$5,500. We provide a detailed written quote before any work begins so there are no surprises.

How long does a custom vanity take?

From design approval to installed vanity, expect 4–7 weeks for most projects. That includes build time in our shop (typically 3–5 weeks) and scheduling delivery and installation. We can give you a more accurate timeline during the consultation once we understand the scope.

Can you match an existing style in my bathroom?

Yes. Bring us photos, a sample door if you have one, or just describe what you're working with. We regularly build vanities to match or complement existing cabinetry in a home — whether it's a kitchen cabinet style, a specific stain color, or a particular door profile.

Do you install countertops too?

We can coordinate the full vanity installation including the countertop. We work with local fabricators for granite, quartz, and marble countertops. If you want a wood or concrete top, we can often build that in-house. We handle the coordination so you're working with one point of contact.
